Safety in Our Community

Did you know that Police Incidents for any area in Fairfax County can be viewed on the Fairfax County Government Website?  We recently pulled a Police Incident Report for our area from their website at http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/gisapps/myneighborhood/mynpolice.aspx and found that noise and theft (larceny) appear to have been the biggest problems during the month of May.  We searched a 1 mile radius of the intersection of Lee Hwy and Ridge Top Road.

Of the 80 incidents found, two of them occurred in Wescott Ridge.  All are described below:

26 for noise, 1 of which was within the condos.  Definition is any unnecessary noise that interferes with another person’s quality of life.

24 for larceny, 1 of which was within the condos.  Definition is unlawful taking, carrying, leading, or riding away of property with the intent to deprive the owner of the item.

          8 for destruction.

6 for assault.  Definition is unwanted touching by one person upon another with the intent to inflict harm.

          6 for vehicle tampering.

          5 for stolen/recovered vehicles.

4 for burglary.  Definition is unlawful entry of a residential or commercial structure to commit another crime such as arson, assault, destruction, larceny, murder, rape or robbery.
